President Address

The rapid development of science and technology, with the continuous creation of scientific and technological innovations, as well as the impact of the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic make it necessary to have a modern science education that is compatible with current developments and social demands.

The Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete (PTE - PK), trying to respond to the above challenges, provides the necessary education to both undergraduate students with a modern curriculum that is constantly enriched and updated, and postgraduate students offering specializations in various cutting-edge areas of Education. In addition, it promotes research and innovation in Education Sciences and contributes in particular to the development and evolution of new scientists through the doctoral and postdoctoral research that is carried out and the participation in European and national programs.

To ensure the above is guaranteed by the continuous contribution of the entire staff of the Department of Education, consisting of faculty members, members of the teaching and research staff and administrative staff, who are active through the seven Laboratories of the Department, which cover important dimensions of modern education and research in the Sciences of Education.

Finally, the University cultivates a two-way relationship with the (local) community through the School Internship of students in schools in the Rethymnon area, as well as through activities for students and teachers that are implemented at the University's premises, remotely or in structures located in the city of Rethymnon, such as the Museum of Education and the Science and Technology Center "Science in the City".
