Quality Policy of the Undergraduate Studies Program of the Pedagogical Department of Elementary Education
The Pedagogical Department of Primary Education (PTDE) in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (hereinafter MODIP) and the competent services of the Foundation has harmonized the Quality Policy of the Undergraduate Study Program (PPS) with the Quality Policy of the University of Crete.
The Department's Quality Policy is based on the main pillars of its operation and briefly aims to:
- To cultivate and promote Pedagogical Science through academic and applied teaching and modern research taking into account modern trends in the field of science and
research in the international context - To provide the graduate with the supplies required for his/her scientific development and his/her professional career and rehabilitation in structures and places of education and pedagogical activities
- To contribute to meeting the growing needs of education through innovative and alternative pedagogical applications that connect the international example with the educational reality of our country.
- To supply the labor market with suitably qualified professional teachers, not only in the area of classical education structures, but also in wider areas that require pedagogical and educational training and experience
- To favor the mobility of modern teachers in Greece and Europe and the offer of their services in education structures and pedagogical actions in Greece and Europe.
In this direction, the quality policy of PTDE is constantly being reorganized, updated, developed and improved, in order to respond to the current academic, educational, pedagogical, research, but also socio-cultural , economic and demographic conditions, through the active participation of all members of the Department (teaching, administrative and technical staff, students). This policy is drawn up with the aim of supporting the academic character of PTDE's study programs, which are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level.
According to the above, the Quality Policy of the PPS of the PTDE of the University of Crete has as its primary objective the provision of education and conducting high-level research, in order for its graduates to be in position:
- distinguish themselves in professional and research fields related to the
object of their studies, - to engage creatively with study and research in the fields of
Educational Sciences and - to become citizens with a critical spirit, high morals, humanitarian education, an increased
sense of responsibility and a willingness to make a lasting contribution to society.
The main axes of the Department's PDP are the following:
- The promotion of the quality of teaching and research work, the interconnection of teaching with research and the dissemination of innovative practices.
- The active participation of students in the learning/teaching process.
- Strengthening the mobility of students and teaching staff.
- The promotion of cooperation with other university departments and research centers at home and/or abroad.
- The promotion of his educational and research work in the international academic community.
- Strengthening its relations and synergies with the local community and the wider society.
- The continuous improvement of the working conditions of the teaching, research and administrative staff.
Based on the above-mentioned axes, the relevant PPS has been formed based on the best international practices in the field of Educational Sciences and at the same time it is evaluated/revised on an annual basis. A key objective of the curriculum is to develop teachers, who in turn can promote the learning process as a lifelong process in their students.
For the implementation of such a policy the PTDE:
- Follows the procedures provided for on the basis of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the University of Crete.
- It safeguards academic principles, as well as the principles of scientific ethics and social accountability.
- Cultivates and strengthens meaningful communication and cooperation between its members.
- It improves its services and infrastructure.
- Cooperates with the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of the University of Crete for the annual review and internal inspection of the Undergraduate Study Program (BSP).
