Dr Emmanouil (Manos) G. Chalkiadakis teaches History at the University of Crete (Faculty of Education, Dept of Primary Education). He is Visiting Scholar at the Hellenic Institute, Royal Holloway, University of London and Scientific Collaborator of Lincoln University, New Zealand. Furthermore, he was Associate and Projects Academic Coordinator at the Center for Hellenic Studies of Harvard University and Visiting Professor at the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies (I.O.C.S.), Cambridge. He has been Tutor at the Hellenic Open University. Moreover, he was Senior Associate Member of St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, Associate at South East European Studies at Oxford (S.E.E.S.OX.) and Research Associate at the Institute I.O.C.S., Cambridge. He has also been a Visiting Professor at MBS College (Greece) - Nottingham Trent University and he has taught History at the “PAIDEIA Study Abroad Programs in Greece Campus of the University of Connecticut” and at the Patriarchal University Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete as well.
He has received his BA in History and Archaeology (University of Crete, Faculty of Philosophy) and he holds a Diploma in Greek Palaeography (University of Oxford), an MPhil in Modern Greek and European History (University of Crete), and a PhD in Modern Greek History (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). He completed his first postdoctoral research in Modern Greek History at the University of Oxford, St Antony’s College, European Studies Centre, and he also completed his second postdoctoral research in Modern Greek (Ecclesiastical and Political) History at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has received more than 10 scholarships, grants, honorariums, among others, from the “Greek State Scholarships Foundation”, the “Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation”, the “John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation”, the “Foundation for Culture and Education Andreas Lentakis”, the University of Crete and Harvard University. He has published more than 10 books and many scholarly papers, especially in Modern and Contemporary Greek and European History and also in Political and Ecclesiastical History. -
